New Transportation Clinic Offers No Wait and the Chance to Win a Harley

KITCHENER, July 14, 2014 – DriverCheck, a leading provider of workplace medical testing and assessments, has become the first in Canada to offer drivers a unique transportation clinic with no wait for their provincial license or DOT-mirrored medical exams.

The newly renovated clinic boasts three big screen TVs mounted on a wall in the waiting room, a row of lounge chairs, and a coffee bar – resembling a man cave more than a medical clinic.

“It IS more than a medical clinic,” says Dr. Chris Page, the company’s founder and president. “This clinic was designed specifically for truck drivers.  It’s a rest stop where drivers can get their mandatory physical exam completed, use the internet to arrange to pick up their next load, and grab a cup of coffee.”

This isn’t the first medical clinic Dr. Page has spearheaded in Ontario. As an emergency physician, he previously helped develop four urgent care clinics, three of them in Waterloo Region and one in Ottawa. The idea for a transportation clinic was born from Dr. Page’s recognizing a need for quick and easy access to driver medical exams in this region.

“The clinic is staffed by people who understand that drivers work very hard, that their time is important, and their needs unique. Our exams are administered by emergency doctors who specialize in cross-border issues, who are familiar with provincial driver’s licencing exams, and who know the requirements. Plus, truck drivers don’t have to wait several weeks to see their family doctor.”

Drivers who don’t have access to a family physician either are grateful for the service. “It’s nice to have somewhere to go,” says Zack Paquin. “The girls were great and professional, and the doctor was very thorough.”

The newly renovated transportation clinic (which also offers a suite of occupational health services) is located at 31 McBrine Drive, Unit 8 in Kitchener and officially opened its doors today.

Drivers who get their medical completed at the clinic will also have their name entered into a draw for a Harley motorcycle.
