Identity Verification: Types of identification that acceptable as proof of Identity Verification
The Agency is responsible to apply Identity Verification of the applicant. There must be proof of identity verification for each transaction, which must be retained by the Agency for two (2) years.
• The applicant must provide two pieces of government-issued identification. The primary identification that may be accepted by the Agency includes:
o Driver’s License (issued by Canadian Province or Territory), Foreign Driver’s License, Canadian Passport, Foreign Passport, Canadian Citizenship Card, Permanent Resident Card, Certification of Indian Status, Student Identity Card from a foreign institute, Firearms Acquisition Certificate, Firearms Possession Certificate, Canadian National Institute of the Blind Identification Card, Federal/ Provincial/ Municipal Identification Card, Military Family Identification Card.
• The secondary identification that may be accepted by the Agency includes:
o Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate, Hunting License, Fishing License, Hospital Card, Immigration Papers.
• Health Cards (issued by Canadian Province or Territory) and Social Insurance Numbers are not acceptable for identification purposes.
