Dr. Melissa Snider-Adler

MD, CCFP(AM), MRO (AAMRO), DABAM, FASAM, Chief Medical Review Officer, DriverCheck Inc. Physician, Addiction Medicine

Dr. Snider-Adler is the Chief Medical Review Officer for DriverCheck and practices as an Addiction Medicine Physician. She is certified by The American Board of Addiction Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Competence in Addiction Medicine by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Dr. Snider-Adler currently practices addiction medicine in Ontario and is an Assistant Professor at Queen's University Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Snider-Adler is considered an expert in the field of substance use in the workplace as well as alcohol and drug testing for safety-sensitive workplaces. As such, she is often asked to provide expert opinions, reports and testimony for arbitrations, hearings and court cases across Canada. Dr. Snider-Adler speaks to workplaces and at various conferences in Canada and the US regarding the impact of recreational cannabis, cannabis for medical purposes, workplace substance and medication use, and addiction prevention and treatment.


Dr. Jonathan Davids 

MD, CCFP, FCFP, CCBOM, MRO, (AAMRO), Dip. SportMed, CD, Chief Medical Officer, DriverCheck

Dr. Davids is an Occupational Medicine Physician and the Chief Medical Officer of DriverCheck Inc. He oversees all occupational health services, including fitness for duty determinations, occupational medical examinations, provincially regulated medical surveillance testing, alcohol and drug testing, and injury management services.

Practicing Occupational Medicine for over 25 years, he initially worked as a Medical Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces, and then as a Corporate Medical Advisor and Medical Director for organizations in the retail and manufacturing industries, nuclear energy sector, police services, healthcare, and education.


Christine Quick

Christine Quick

RN, BScN, COHN (C), Senior Manager, Occupational Health Department, DriverCheck

Christine is a Registered Nurse (RN) with a Certification in Occupational Health Nursing [COHN(C)], and she has been an integral part of DriverCheck since 2006. As the Senior Manager of the Occupational Health Department, she leads a dedicated team of nursing and administrative professionals who are committed to supporting employer health, safety, and wellness programs.

Christine oversees the delivery of a broad spectrum of occupational health services, including fitness-for-work assessments and medical surveillance testing, ensuring that the highest standards of care are met.

Christine also plays a key role in the development and implementation of new service offerings under the leadership of DriverCheck's Chief Medical Officer.

In addition to her nursing credentials, Christine has pursued further education in workplace audiometric and spirometry testing, post-offer pre-placement testing, job analysis, functional capacity evaluations, and the essentials of occupational health, safety, and disability management.

With years of experience in occupational health, Christine is passionate about promoting employee well-being and ensuring that organizations can maintain a safe, healthy, and productive workforce.


Dr. Sebastian Straube   

BM BCh, MA (Oxon), DPhil
Professor and Director, Division of Preventive Medicine, University of Alberta 

Sebastian Straube holds degrees in Medicine and Physiological Sciences from the University of Oxford where he also did his DPhil (PhD). After clinical work and research at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals, he joined the University Medical Center Göttingen (Germany). There he completed his Habilitation (German postdoctoral qualification) and his postgraduate medical training in Occupational Medicine. Dr. Straube took up his current post in the Division of Preventive Medicine of the University of Alberta's Department of Medicine in 2014. He was appointed as Division Director for Preventive Medicine in 2016 and promoted to Full Professor in 2019. Dr. Straube has also been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta's School of Public Health since 2015. He is the Director of the Foundation Course in Occupational Medicine, which teaches Occupational Medicine to physicians in Canada and in the Middle East. Dr. Straube's research program is focussed on information synthesis (systematic reviews, meta-analyses) in Occupational Medicine and beyond. 


Andrew Holmes

Andrew Holmes is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and a renowned sleep specialist bringing 20 years of expertise in sleep education, diagnostics and therapeutic solutions. His extensive professional background includes senior leadership roles within hospital and healthcare settings. Andrew led the team responsible for a full service cardiopulmonary and sleep services department at one of the biggest hospitals in the nation’s capital, Ottawa. As one of the most sought-after sleep experts, he is a consultant to numerous professional sports organizations such as the National Hockey League (NHL) including the Ottawa Senators Hockey organization. Andrew has also appeared on numerous media networks including CBC’S The National News as asleep subject matter expert. Andrew is a sleep educator and has presented many talks on sleep disorders, fatigue impairment, sleep hygiene and best sleep practices. In 2015 Holmes founded Sleep Efficiency Inc., which is the premier provider of home-based sleep testing services in Canada. With a distinguished record of conducting thousands of sleep tests in the comfort of individuals homes every year, Sleep Efficiency Inc. is at the forefront of promoting optimal sleep health. 


Cathie Hartnett

Executive Director, Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation  

Hartnett serves as the Executive Director of Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation (GRI). GRI ran one of the first and largest recovery high schools, launched Young People in Recovery, organized two national Recovery Research Summits that informed the White House National Drug Control Strategy and assisted AmeriCorps with the launch of Recovery Corp.  She has worked in the substance use disorder field with a focus on recovery for over 15 years. 

Hartnett and the GRI Board of Directors launched the National Recovery Friendly Workplace Institute which will serve as a clearing house including research, certification, accreditation for Employers and content experts in the field to advance the White House National Drug Control strategy of becoming a Recovery Ready Nation.  

Hartnett has spent her career working with start-up and turn around non-profit social impact organizations both at the local, state and national level.
