November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support those affected by the disease and recognize the importance of earlier detection and better access to care, treatment options and resources for patients and families.
At DriverCheck, this month also holds special meaning as we remember our friend and colleague Connor Page, our former Vice President of Strategy, and share how his vision of helping others continues to move forward.
During his cancer journey, Connor Page and his wife, Jen, experienced firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate treatment and clinical trial options. When standard treatments were no longer enough, a clinical trial gave Connor an additional six months with his family. Their experience inspired them to help make the process easier for others.
Following Connor’s passing, Jen continued the work they started together. Through the Connor Page Fund for Improved Access to Clinical Trials (the Fund) and its work with Pancreatic Cancer North America (PCNA), that vision is now helping provide patients and families with greater access to information, resources and support.
Connor’s Vision in Action
Over the past year, the Fund, together with PCNA, has helped support several important initiatives:
Launching the Connor Page Playbook for Navigating Clinical Trials: An interactive, practical guide that helps patients, caregivers and loved ones understand clinical trial options, navigate complex medical systems, access supportive care and advocate at every step.
Supporting access to genomic testing: The Fund provided the founding donation for MyCancerCode, which provides high-quality genomic testing at no cost to patients. Genomic testing can help open the door to additional treatment options or clinical trials. Together with PCNA, the Fund will also advocate for this testing to become a standard of care for pancreatic cancer patients.
Supporting patients and caregivers: The Fund continues to support PCNA’s patient and caregiver support program and its advocacy for people affected by pancreatic cancer.
This Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, we remember Connor Page and the impact he had on those around him. His commitment to helping others continues through the Fund, Jen’s dedication to carrying their shared vision forward, and resources that are helping patients and families navigate an incredibly difficult journey.
