What is Fitness for Duty?

Fitness for Duty programs differ from company to company, and typically include some form of medical testing and/or assessment(s). Whether conducted for an existing employee, or a potential candidate, testing such as alcohol and drug testing, pre-placement medicals, audiograms etc. may be performed to determine whether an individual is physically and/or psychologically fit to perform the job. The results of this medical testing conclude whether an individual has the ability to complete the essential functions of a job and do so safely.
