Hearing loss is a serious concern for workers in many industries and can be caused by prolonged exposure to loud noises. To help protect workers from hearing damage, various regulations and standards have been put in place regarding hearing protection and hearing fit testing (including earplug fit testing).

On March 31, 2023, Alberta's government will be implementing changes to parts of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Code.  

One significant change involves noise exposure which covers requirements for protecting workers from exposure to occupational noise hazards.
